>INDUSTRY PARTNERSHIPS

PJCAD’s strong industry links and working partnerships with international corporations enable students to experience industry-realistic environments throughout their studies. PJCAD’s involvement with IKEA is one such example.

IKEA in Europe has been working closely with established design colleges for many years. PJCAD is the first college in Malaysia to establish links with IKEA. The future of design augurs well for Malaysia and can only look bright and extremely promising with such a relationship between IKEA and PJCAD.

>INDUSTRY WORK PLACEMENT

PJCAD's Industry Work Placement Program provides internship experiences that an academic setting cannot. Students are constantly exposed to the changing demands of the working world and their three-month mandatory internship enables them builds a strong foundation of professionalism and positive work ethics.

Students are viewed as designers in training and staff provide constant support to help them become designers in practice in their own right, each with their own perspectives and strengths in their particular design specialisation.

The greatest value of internship is not just exposure to the behaviour of, but the active participation in, the vibrancy and challenges of a professional design studio culture. The interns must see that design is an interactive, interdisciplinary and social process.

>INDUSTRY RECOGNITIONS

It is encouraging to note that graduates from PJCAD are posing challenges in design to meet the high standards that the industry demands. We interviewed and employed quite a few students and the graduates of PJCAD seem to have an edge over most colleges in terms of skill acquisition, knowledge dissemination and practical application.
