The Diploma in Product Design response to both consumer needs and technological advancement. The course covers crucial relationships between aesthetics, form and function and the technology of production.

The aim of the course is give students the opportunity to study a wide range of design processes and develop their technical skills and problem solving sensibilities to produce innovative design ideas and solutions for small and large scale industrial production.

Students will study a wide range of topics including design development, materials and processes, manufacturing technology, presentation and communication skills, design rendering and sketching techniques, ergonomics, marketing and others.

Design project work is the core of the course. It enables skills to be practiced and integrates knowledge acquired in each of the specialized areas.

Product designers specializes in the styling of highly functional products in areas as diverse as automotive products, medical, toys, consumer eletronic products and sports goods, etc.

Product designers combine artistic skills and practical knowledge to create designs. Most designers concentrate on one area. For example, a designer might specialise in toys or kitchen appliances.

Product Designers works with merchandizing to turn an innovative concept into reality.
